Mykonos : Mykonos is probably my favorite Greek island. Not too sleepy and not too mobbed by tourists as is Santorini. The windmills are beyond romantic. Wawa had loads of fun with the black and white patterned streets.

Corfu : Corfu reminded me a lot of Italy's Amalfi coast. Very blue. Very green. Very scenic. We hired a taxi driver for a day to show us around the island. It was the only time during the entire cruise trip I felt we had extensive contact with the locals. A middle aged man, divorced, with a teenage daughter. He told us tourism and olives are the two main industries on Corfu. He works 16 hour days during peak season so he doesn't see his family often. When it's not tourist season, the entire family works on olives business and that's the time he spends with family. He says families are very tight here. He says he likes the pace of life on the island, the scenary, the air, the climate... But he wishes for more business and more money. He says the younger generation all wants to leave for more exciting places (like America). He speaks multiple languages, including Japanese. He says language is important for his job. The nationality of the tourists determines which language he picks up. He wants his children to learn Russian. Apparently there are a lot young and rich Russian visiting Corfu and buying properties here.

Santorini : What can I say - it's Santorini. Even mobbed by tourists, its scenery is still surreal. There were 6 or 7 giant cruise ships parked nearby the island when we were there. I would love to come back at night when the tourists are gone.

Olympia : The cruise ship parked at Katacolon. By the time we rode to Olympia from Katacolon it started pouring. Kevin and I had planned on doing 100m race at the grounds of Olympia. Instead we wondered around with umbrellas.

Arolithos : I don't know how we managed to find this little ancient Greek village Arolithos on the island of Crete. Quiet and charming. The best part is that we beat the tourists from the cruise ship!

Athens : After 16 hours flight we landed in Athens. We stayed in the very touristy Plaka area. Not sure if it was because I was pregnant, I really didn't enjoy much of the food in Athens. We hiked up the Acropolis through the very interesting little alley ways in Anafiotica. Wawa wasn't impressed by the Pantheon. All she wanted to do was to play with the rocks on the ground. We later found out that the Greek ruins are much more impressive in Turkey than in Greece.
